7 Kimi K3 Features That Make Every Other Model Feel Outdated

Developers launch new models every week, but most barely change how you work. Kimi K3 is different—not because of benchmark charts, but because of a few small API changes that fundamentally affect how you use it. The first is reasoning_effort, which defaults to maximum, alongside 131,072 max_completion_tokens. Ask K3 to rename a variable, and it [ ] The post 7 Kimi K3 Features That Make Every Other Model Feel Outdated appeared first on Analytics Vidhya.

One AI module faked 86% of a pipeline's accuracy gains by feeding another the answers

A retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) system is built to answer strictly from the documents it retrieves. But when engineers optimize these AI pipelines end-to-end, the reader module can learn a shortcut: instead of relying on retrieved evidence, it starts answering from its own internal memory — while the system s overall accuracy keeps climbing. This is the hidden challenge of role drift, a failure mode in compound AI systems where individual modules learn to bypass their assigned tasks even as end-to-end performance improves. To address this, researchers at MIT and Harvard introduce Role Anchor, a technique that forces modules to stay in their lanes during training. When applied, the technique mitigates role drift. For example, it forces the RAG reader to rely on retrieved evidence instead of answering based on its internal knowledge. The primary takeaway for practitioners is that end-to-end accuracy alone can overstate how much a compound AI system has genuinely learned. Feedly attributes weeklong slowdown to bug, not its AI pivot

Feedly says a bug is behind the performance issues that have made its web app nearly "unusable" for some users, while complaints about its mobile apps and customer support are adding to frustrations.

Sonos finally added Live Activities controls for your iPhone lockscreen

Sonos released an update to its mobile app that finally introduces support for iOS' Live Activities, giving iPhone users quick access to playback controls on their lockscreen. The added functionality is a "much requested, anticipated, and needed feature," according to a post Sonos shared to Reddit today that was spotted by 9to5Mac. While some features like displaying album art are not available, the Sonos Live Activity provides basic details and controls when listening to music or podcasts through a Sonos system without having to fully unlock your iPhone and open the app. Support for Live Activities and lockscreen controls similar to wha … Read the full story at The Verge.

Trump’s dumb border wall

A bulldozer plows through land during construction for a section of border wall near Santa Elena Canyon on August 14, 2026 in Big Bend National Park, Texas. | Photo: Brandon Bell via Getty Images About 22 miles south of the former mining town of Patagonia, Arizona, down a winding, unpaved mountain road that passes cows grazing on open range, stands a cottonwood tree believed to be at least 200 years old. The "grandmother" tree, as some locals call it, is imperiled and already showing signs of stress, almost as if it knows its fate. The leaves are yellowing prematurely, falling to the ground at the height of summer. On July 27th, a construction crew felled three neighboring trees to build an extension of President Donald Trump's wall along the US-Mexico border. An activist climbed up the last tree standing two days later and ever sin … Read the full story at The Verge.

Webwright: Why AI Web Agents Should Write Code, Not Click

For years, web agents have worked one click at a time—and often fallen apart on long tasks. Microsoft Research’s Webwright makes a different bet: give the model a terminal and let it write the program instead. On long-horizon tasks, the same GPT-5.4 model jumps from 33.5% to 60.1% success. And instead of leaving behind a click trace, it leaves something you can actually use again: a command-line tool. Enterprises with AI context layers report agent failures at more than twice the rate of those without one

A company builds a governed context layer specifically to stop its AI agents from confidently giving wrong answers. Once that layer is live, the company is more than twice as likely to report the failure happening — not less.In the past six months, 68% of enterprises have traced a confident but wrong AI agent answer to missing or inconsistent business context. Thirty-seven percent say it happened more than once, ahead of the 32% who saw it happen only once. The figures come from a VB Pulse July 2026 survey of 101 qualified enterprises with more than 100 employees. That s up from 57% in a VB Pulse survey conducted in June. Recurring failures climbed too, from 31% then to 37% now. This is the second time VB Pulse has asked enterprises this exact question, once in June and now in July. The failure rate is climbing, not falling, even as more enterprises report a governed layer in production, up from 25% in June to 32% now.How agents get context determines whether they re wrongEvery AI agent
