Microsoft is testing free, ad-supported cloud gaming for Xbox Insiders

Xbox Insiders can stream games from their libraries for free in ad-supported streaming sessions starting today. The free streaming sessions are limited to games you already own, and sessions are capped at one hour. However, ads will only play "before sessions begin." It's also optional - you won't need to watch ads if you have a paid cloud gaming subscription. Microsoft says the ad-supported streaming option will only be available for a limited time during a "test period." It previously began internally testing an ad-supported version of Xbox Cloud Gaming late last year, with sources telling The Verge at the time that the test included abo … Read the full story at The Verge.

An AI now judges every move Rubrik's agents make, its AI chief said at VB Transform 2026 — but no one's measured if the judge is right

At a CISO roundtable organized by Anthropic s chief information security officer, Dev Rishi asked a simple question: Did everyone in the room have their AI governance and security policies written down? Every hand went up — about 14 people, by his count. His follow-up, about how anyone actually enforces those policies in practice, got a different response. And everybody chuckled, Rishi, the GM of AI at Rubrik, recalled at VB Transform 2026 fireside chat in Menlo Park. It was like the dirty secret in the room that everyone has these policies, but no way to actually make them real. “Our founder and CTO has actually been really pushing to enable our agents in YOLO mode,” Rishi told the audience. That admission comes from a publicly traded data security firm whose business is backing up what he called the most important data in the world.YOLO mode strips the permission prompt out of agent workflows and lets the agent act on its own. In Rubrik s version, a second AI judges every action in r

The new Halo remake is a reminder of what Xbox used to be

It's impossible to talk about a new Xbox game without also talking about the state of Xbox. Microsoft's gaming division is in freefall: Recent headlines are dominated by extensive layoffs, decimated studios, and confusing strategies, most of which stem from years of bad decisions and expensive acquisitions. But it wasn't always that way. Through its first two generations of existence, Xbox held its own against its more established rivals Nintendo and Sony, and a big reason for that was Halo. Bungie's shooter coupled a grand sci-fi story with nearly pitch-perfect action and single-handedly created a reason to buy an Xbox. Now, the game has go … Read the full story at The Verge.

Ford picks Apple Maps for its next EV platform and updated BlueCruise

Ford plans to embed Apple Maps directly into its Universal Electric Vehicle Platform, which will start with a $30,000 midsize pickup truck set for release in 2027. In an announcement on Thursday, Ford says it will use Apple Maps to offer "turn-by-turn directions using natural language, real-time traffic and incident information, intuitive search featuring detailed place cards, and routing options." The vehicle will also have an intelligent EV routing feature and battery preconditioning. Since the Apple Maps system will be integrated into Ford's upcoming platform, drivers won't need an iPhone to use it - though Ford notes that CarPlay will s … Read the full story at The Verge.
