New York is suing Kalshi over claims the prediction market is running "an illegal gambling operation." In the lawsuit, New York Attorney General Letitia James accuses Kalshi of violating state laws by accepting wagers without a license from the state's gaming commission, as reported earlier by CNBC. An investigation from the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) found Kalshi exposes New York residents "to serious personal and financial risk," including people under the legal gambling age of 21, the lawsuit alleges. The state asks the court to block Kalshi - which is headquartered in New York - from operating in the state and to pay restituti … Read the full story at The Verge.

Tesla had already reportedly prepped for the idea in the event that Beijing invades Taiwan.
Anthropic just realized several of its Claude AI models hacked into the systems of three different organizations during testing, acting on their own and without the company noticing. The revelation comes days after rival OpenAI said one of its own models had breached developer platform Hugging Face, adding to growing unease over whether frontier AI labs are doing enough to control the increasingly capable systems they are building. In a blog post describing the incidents, Anthropic said Claude gained unauthorized access to the systems during cybersecurity evaluations. All of the attacks happened during "capture-the-flag" exercises, a commo … Read the full story at The Verge.

Cape Fear has always been a thriller about paranoia. And in 2026 there are few things less trustworthy than technology. Apple TV's recent remake of Cape Fear is "inspired" by the 1991 film of the same name (Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg even returned as executive producers on the project), which itself is a remake of a 1962 movie that was an adaptation of the novel The Executioners by John D. MacDonald. The series is essentially a brand-new story within a similar premise, and it makes a number of significant changes to make it both fit the new episodic format and feel right at home in the present day. One of the most salient updates … Read the full story at The Verge.
Sony has received a lot of backlash from PlayStation fans since announcing that it's killing physical game disc production, but that hasn't swayed its decision. During Sony's latest earnings call, chief financial officer Lin Tao said that while the company "put in a lot of thought and time" when considering the opposition put forward by its gaming community, Sony has come to the conclusion that it will "cautiously move this forward." "There are various reasons we made this decision, the biggest being that the digitalization of content overall has been progressing, that's the big factor," Tao said through an interpreter. "It's not just for P … Read the full story at The Verge.
