People visit the booth of Kimi, an LLM developed by the Chinese startup Moonshot, during the World AI Conference in Shanghai, China, July 20th. | Image: LONG WEI/ Feature China/Future Publishing via Getty Images Silicon Valley has spent much of the past week on red alert, digesting the arrival of Moonshot AI's Kimi K3, a Chinese AI model that can allegedly beat some of the best systems built by US companies at a fraction of the cost. Its performance alone would have been enough to intensify the rivalry between the US and China. But Moonshot's plan to release the model's weights for free - and its clear targeting of US users - has fueled deeper unease about whether closed American models can continue to dominate as increasingly capable open alternatives enter the market. Open-weight models give developers far greater control than proprietary syst … Read the full story at The Verge.

Over the weekend, Reddit user -void1 posted an alarming discovery on the r/ClaudeAI subreddit: some conversations that users of Anthropic s Claude AI chatbot had made shareable via a link were being indexed by Google Search, and could be clicked on and accessed by seemingly anyone. The conversation took off on the social networks X and Reddit, the latter with thousands of upvotes and comments, many expressing concern about user privacy and information security, and the additional finding by users that shared Claude Artifacts — including interactive applications, dashboards, documents and other AI-generated work products — were also appearing in Google Search results. VentureBeat independently verified that some Claude Artifacts not shared directly with us were indeed searchable and accessible via Google. We could not access any shared conversations. By Sunday morning, many of the original Google search results for shared Claude conversations appeared to have disappeared or become signif
Today, I’m talking with Evan Smith, who is cofounder and CEO of Altana, a company that develops software tools to manage big, messy supply chain networks around the world. We last had Evan on in early 2025 to talk about how Trump’s first few waves of tariffs were starting to affect global trade and what patterns Altana was seeing in all that macro-level data about shipping and trade. It was a very alarming and also very illuminating chat; Evan and I got into the existential weeds of international relations and economics almost immediately. It was a great conversation. A year and a half later, and everything is somehow even more chaotic than it was the last time Evan and I talked — and that’s true both about trade and in the business world. And, as you’ll hear, we jumped right back into the weeds yet again. Developments in agentic AI have changed what Altana can do, but like every software company, they’ve also changed how Altana can do it. You’ll hear Evan describe how AI is changing h
Framework’s Laptop 13 Pro looks great in black but costs lots of green. | Photo: Antonio G. Di Benedetto / The Verge Framework laptops always come with compromises in exchange for their unique DIY premise. Even though you pay extra for one compared to sleeker options from competitors, it's easier to excuse minor flaws for modular ports, easy repairs, and an impressive range of upgradeable parts. So what happens when Framework goes "Pro"? We get a one-of-a-kind jewel among notebooks. The 13 Pro corrects and improves many shortcomings of the regular Laptop 13. It has a bright and sharp touchscreen, the best haptic trackpad not made by Apple, and an impeccable build and feel. Take all that and marry it to a great Intel chip and cutting-edge user-replaceable … Read the full story at The Verge.

Presented by SAP At VB Transform 2026, Max McPhee, senior solution advisor at SAP, spoke with Rob Stretchay, lead analyst at VentureBeat Research, about what it takes for enterprises to move beyond chatbots to autonomous AI agents that can execute real business processes. He argued that the difference comes down to grounding those agents in a company’s own context rather than general knowledge.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRf9t-wSZSo Where we re starting to see more emergent behavior of it feeling like a coworker rather than an assistant, is where we re able to provide context on the actual enterprise rather than being able to use more of the standard knowledge, McPhee said. That s the gap that still separates most enterprise chat software from genuinely agentic systems.Building enterprise context with knowledge graphsThe same principles companies use to onboard new employees also apply to agents, adapted for software that retrieves information differently than humans do.
