Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Watch 9. | Photo: Dominic Preston / The Verge The Galaxy Watch 9 launches on August 7th, and not only does Costco have the best preorder incentives we’ve seen so far, the watch is also discounted. The deal includes the 40mm Watch 9 in cream or graphite, two wireless fast chargers for the watch, and a $50 Costco gift card, all for $339.99 — $40 less than the list price for the watch on its own directly from Samsung. The discounted price erases the $30 gen-to-gen price bump, and the extra chargers and gift card further sweeten the deal. If you aren’t a Costco member, a year of membership is only $65, which is less than the value of the free items in this purchase. Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 Where to Buy: $379.99 $339.99 at Costco (with $50 gift card and two chargers) There are some changes to the new watches from the Watch 8. The brand says the new chip, a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite, is built specifically for AI performance, and there are new health tracking fea
As experts have warned for the last two years, some companies — like Microsoft and now Google — are finding and patching an exponential number of bugs in their products, thanks to the use of LLMs and AI tools.
A lot of content on LinkedIn might seem like AI slop, and now, you'll be able to report those posts. As part of a series of updates to reduce the volume of AI slop on the platform, LinkedIn is introducing an actual button that lets you flag a post as something that "Seems like AI slop." The new feature is part of a broader push to reduce the volume of apparent AI slop on the platform. AI detector Pangram recently found that 41 percent of longform LinkedIn posts were flagged as being completely generated by AI, as reported by 404Media. "AI slop is a top priority for all of us," chief product officer Hari Srinivasan says in a post. "We reall … Read the full story at The Verge.

The latest discovery from NASA's Curiosity Mars rover is a field of honeycomb-shaped polygons covering a Martian valley called Valle Grande. As Gizmodo reports, Curiosity has snapped pictures of the unusual terrain texture before, called polygonal fractures, each about 1.5 to 3 inches wide, but NASA says it's previously only found them in small patches, "nothing on the scale discovered in Valle Grande." Curiosity captured a 360-degree panorama of the "sea of polygons" on June 19th and 20th (Martian sols 4,930 and 4,931) that shows the texture spreading out in all directions. Project scientist Ashwin Vasavada says the Curiosity team "measur … Read the full story at The Verge.
Apptronik’s Apollo 2 robot takes a baseball glove off of a shelf. | Image: Google Google DeepMind says the latest version of its Gemini Robotics AI model can "control entire humanoid robots." While the previous model focused on controlling a humanoid robot's upper body, Gemini Robotics 2 now supports "whole-body motions" ranging from its feet to fingertips, according to an announcement on Thursday. The new model will allow humanoid robots to perform a wider range of actions, as it allows them to walk, crouch, stretch, and manipulate objects. Videos shared by Google show how Apptronik's Apollo 2 robot can bend over to pick up a watering can, as well as find and take specific items off a shelf. Though Google DeepMind not … Read the full story at The Verge.

Every time a Mastercard gets tapped, the network has less than a tenth of a second to judge how likely the purchase is to be fraudulent. It made that call across 175 billion transactions last year. Now the buyer on the other side of that judgment is starting to change, and Greg Ulrich, the company s chief AI and data officer, spelled out the consequence for the VB Transform 2026 audience in Menlo Park on July 14. We ve built a bunch of risk rules over time that were intended to stop a bot from transacting, Ulrich said. Now we need to enable the bot to transact, so that requires a change to our risk framework and our risk rules. Ulrich joined Mastercard eleven years ago when an analytics company he worked at was acquired, and said trust struck him from day one on the job. It s what enables a merchant that s never met you to accept payment and ensure that they re going to get paid. It s what enables you as a consumer to transact and ensure that things are going to work out in a trusted,
Less than a year after emerging from stealth to tackle non-human identity security, Israeli cybersecurity startup Hush Security believes the enterprise AI security conversation has fundamentally changed. The company, which earlier this week announced a $30 million Series A round led by returning investors Battery Ventures and YL Ventures with Akamai Technologies joining as a strategic investor, argues that organizations are rapidly moving beyond experimenting with generative AI assistants and into deploying autonomous software agents that require an entirely different security model. While the funding will help expand engineering, U.S. sales and enterprise integrations, Hush is framing the announcement primarily as evidence that identity—not models—is becoming the critical control plane for enterprise AI. The discussion has moved incredibly fast, CEO and co-founder Micha Rave told VentureBeat in a video call interview following the funding news. When Hush launched last year, the company
