85% of companies burned by an AI mistake are racing to cut the humans who might catch the next one

Enterprises that already got burned by an AI agent passing its evals and then failing in production are moving faster toward removing humans from deployment decisions, not slower — even as trust in automated evaluation is rising across the board, new VB Pulse research shows. In July, 13% of 108 enterprises surveyed said they trust automated evaluation, up from just 5% the month prior. Meanwhile, survey respondents citing poor alignment between tests and real-world results as their biggest concern fell 10 points, from 29% to 19%, month over month. Yet, 49% of survey respondents said that an AI agent or LLM-powered feature that had cleared company testing subsequently created a problem visible to customers, essentially unchanged from 50% in June. And nearly a quarter, 24%, said this troubling outcome had occurred more than once. The latest findings from VentureBeat Intelligence uncovered a more troubling phase of the enterprise agent rollout: the gap is no longer only between how much auto

Commerce AI is fragmenting. Here is why that matters.

Presented by Rezolve AiEnterprise AI investment in commerce has never been higher. And enterprise AI outcomes in commerce have rarely been more inconsistent. That gap is not a coincidence. It is the predictable result of a pattern that has repeated itself across every major technology shift in retail: the industry adds new capabilities faster than it integrates them. That pattern is now playing out in commerce AI.The point solution patternThe dominant approach to commerce AI over the past three years has been an additive one. Brands have layered AI-powered search on top of existing catalog infrastructure. They have added conversational interfaces on top of existing checkout flows. They have deployed recommendation engines alongside personalization tools that were themselves deployed alongside earlier recommendation engines. Each addition was justified by a discrete metric improvement, and none were designed to work as a cohesive system. This is the point solution pattern, and commerce ha

Peacock is raising prices by up to $3

Peacock is raising prices across its streaming plans once again, with the company's cheapest ad-supported Select tier going from $7.99 to $8.99 / month, as reported earlier by Variety. The Premium plan with ads is increasing from $10.99 to $12.99 / month, while the ad-free Premium Plus plan is getting the biggest hike, jumping from $16.99 to $19.99 / month. The price change goes into effect on August 18th for new or returning subscribers, and affects the streamer's annual plans as well. Existing subscribers will see the price change on their next billing date on or after September 17th. Peacock has steadily hiked its prices over the past fe … Read the full story at The Verge.

Coyote vs. Acme is even funnier because Warner Bros. Discovery tried to kill it

There's an argument to be made that people wouldn't be all that interested in Coyote vs. Acme if it weren't for the way David Zaslav tried to kill it. By trying to shelve the project, Warner Bros. Discovery only drew attention to its habit of disappearing nearly completed movies in order to cash in on tax write-offs. Coyote vs. Acme's generally positive reviews are on the money; it really is one of the best Looney Tunes movies in years. In theory, this suggests that the movie might do well at the box office and become a case study in WBD making terrible decisions. Ironically, though, all of the drama surrounding the live-action / animated … Read the full story at The Verge.

ABC sues the FCC over Trump and Carr’s campaign of threats

ABC is suing the Federal Communications Commission over claims the agency "waged a retaliatory campaign" against its networks over the content they broadcast. In a lawsuit filed in federal court on Tuesday, ABC and its parent company Disney accuse the FCC of "punishing ABC for its speech" by threatening its broadcast licenses. It's the latest escalation in the dispute between ABC and the Trump administration, which has been critical of the network's political coverage - especially by late-night host Jimmy Kimmel and The View. The FCC opened an investigation into The View's airtime of political candidates in February and ordered ABC stations … Read the full story at The Verge.

Enterprises are overpaying for simple AI queries — Snowflake's gateway now auto-routes to cut costs up to 3x

Enterprise teams running AI agents at scale are finding that a single model handles every task poorly — either the model is too expensive for simple questions or not capable enough for hard ones. Model routing, which picks the right model for each task automatically, is becoming the fix.Snowflake’s Cortex AI Gateway now offers dynamic model routing to address that: enterprises can select “auto” instead of a fixed model, and the system routes each task to whichever model offers the best combination of quality and cost. Snowflake said the capability can cut token costs by as much as 3x on some workloads — a figure from the company’s own internal testing — after finding that simple questions were often handled by its most capable model, making responses more expensive and slower than necessary. The move lands amid a broader industry shift toward automated model routing. Databricks, AWS, Google Cloud and Nvidia have all announced some form of model routing technology. Snowflake argues that
