Google’s new AI transcription edits out your ‘ums’ and ‘ahs’

Google has updated Gemini Audio with some new Gemini 3.5 models, introducing new transcription capabilities that automatically detect specialized jargon and more than 85 languages. Gemini 3.5 Live, 3.5 Live Experimental, and 3.5 Transcribe are designed to provide better precision for Google's voice-controlled AI features, without struggling with background noise or when your speech is interrupted. Gemini 3.5 Transcribe is a completely new addition to the Gemini family, and its introduction comes as we're still waiting for Google to release the Gemini 3.5 Pro model that it promised to roll out in June. Google says that 3.5 Transcribe "repres … Read the full story at The Verge.

The fix for the AI agent that hijacked a company's DNS: it can propose the change, but it can't approve it

A security agent read a Cloudflare log, found an attacker’s prompt-injection payload sitting inside it, and rewrote the company’s DNS. The firewall had already blocked that payload, and blocking it is what wrote it into the log. That chain is GhostJacking, which Tenet Security demonstrated on the DEF CON 34 main stage on August 9. A request hits Cloudflare’s managed ruleset, gets blocked, and is stored byte for byte with its poisoned User-Agent header. An AI coding agent reviewing those blocked events reads the attacker s text as an instruction — with no way to tell it apart from one the company meant to give it — and acts on it with credentials the company issued months earlier. In Tenet’s benchmark, Claude Code on Sonnet 4.6 followed the planted instruction in nine of 10 attempts under Cloudflare’s recommended configuration. The block rate is not the boundaryNothing malfunctioned. The firewall worked, and every call after it carried a valid credential already issued to the agent. Endpo

Volvo’s cars will warn one another about hazards in the road

Volvo is updating three of its electric vehicles with new hazard alerts to warn drivers when there are animals or vulnerable road users ahead. The new connected safety features are based on Volvo's cars talking to one another, as opposed to crowdsourced alert systems used by popular navigation tools like Google Maps and Waze. The alerts work by using connected vehicle data from Volvo's fleet of passenger vehicles in Europe, the US, and Canada. The car's sensors and cameras are tuned to identify certain risks on the road. When one Volvo spots a hazard, it automatically logs the location and sends it to Volvo's servers. Alerts are then sent … Read the full story at The Verge.

Orchestration is the new challenge for CX in the age of AI agents

Presented by Tata Communications Enterprises are deploying AI agents, voice AI, and automation across messaging, voice, and digital channels faster than the architecture meant to support it. Most of that deployment has involved attaching conversational AI to legacy systems never built for it, says Gaurav Anand, global head of the Customer Interaction Suite at Tata Communications. In the rush to deploy AI, organizations have largely bolted conversational AI onto legacy systems, Anand says. As a result, while many enterprises have adopted digital tools, very few have platforms that are truly integrated, scaled, and capable of seamless orchestration. That gap creates a heavy cognitive load for human agents who must piece together context across disjointed tools to understand what an AI system has already told a customer. The challenge is not simply access to data, but the absence of a shared enterprise context that connects customer identities, interactions, transactions, policies, journe

Xbox announces disc-to-digital feature that digitizes your physical games

Microsoft is officially announcing a new Xbox feature that will allow Xbox owners to digitize their existing physical game collections. The disc-to-digital feature, which The Verge exclusively revealed last month, is part of work that Microsoft is doing for game preservation and in preparation for the next generation of Xbox consoles. "Most Xbox One and Xbox Series X disc-based games support this new feature," explains Jason Ronald, VP of next generation at Xbox. "Players can claim a digital entitlement by inserting a supported disc into an Xbox One or Xbox Series X console and launching the game." This digital entitlement is tied to the sp … Read the full story at The Verge.
